Where I Come From and Why I’m Stepping Forward
I didn't come into this trade with connections or shortcuts. I came in to work, to provide, and to build something better for my family.
I was raised right here in Arizona, in a home built on toughness, discipline, and resilience. In our house, you worked through problems, you didn't complain, and you carried your weight. Those lessons stayed with me, on the job and in life.
I also grew up watching addiction tear through my family. I watched my mother fight to hold things together, and I experienced loss at a young age that changes how you see the world. Those moments shape how you carry yourself, how you deal with pressure, and how you show up for others.
For a long time, I handled things the way I was taught, keep moving, stay quiet, don't let anything slow you down. That helped me work hard, but it also meant I didn't always show what I was carrying or make it easy for people to approach me. If I've ever come across as unapproachable, that's on me, and it's something I'm committed to improving.
Everything I've done in this trade, every role I've taken and every fight I've stepped into, has been for one reason: the strength and success of the IBEW and its members. This union isn't just a job or a title to me. It's what I've committed myself to, and it's why I'm running for Business Manager.
This isn't about personalities. It's about direction, representation, and making sure every member knows someone is standing in their corner. I'm not perfect. But I am committed, to being more accessible, to listening, to showing up, and to doing what's right for the membership, even when it's not easy. I'm not here to sit behind a desk. I'm here to stand with you.

For Our Union Families
Retirement
Every early call and demanding shift in the intense Arizona heat represents a shared sacrifice for our union families. Spouses, children, and parents carry the weight of those long hours and the inherent risks of our trade alongside our members. Your unwavering resilience and support are what enable us to power our communities and build a better future. To me, competitive wages and excellent healthcare are more than just contract terms; they provide the foundation for your home's stability and your children's security. As Business Manager, I will lead with the constant understanding that fighting for our members means fighting for the loved ones who stand behind them. We will work together to ensure that a lifetime of hard labor results in the peace of mind every single family deserves.

Bring Members Together
I've had the opportunity to see Jason Dempsey serve this local, and it's clear that he brings a strong sense of responsibility and care to everything he does.
Jason has been consistently present not just in the day-to-day work of the local, but out in the community as well. Whether it's through his involvement in EWMC, participating in community service efforts, or supporting events that bring members together, he shows a genuine commitment to strengthening both the union and the relationships around it.
His actions reflect someone who understands that being part of a union means more than just showing up; it's about giving back, staying engaged, and helping build something stronger for everyone. He leads by example in that way.
What stands out most is his willingness to listen and follow through. He approaches his role with a steady, practical mindset and a clear respect for the members he represents.
Overall, Jason's service reflects a sincere dedication to this local and the community it's a part of.

I am writing to offer my full and sincere endorsement of Jason Dempsey for the position of Business Manager for IBEW Local 640.
I have had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Jason for about 10 years, and during that time, he has consistently proven himself to be a person of integrity, accountability, and strong character. He is not only a trusted colleague, but also someone I consider a close confidant, someone who listens, shows up, and follows through.
While I have not personally held a role within union leadership, I have had the opportunity to observe Jason's work ethic, his ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, and his genuine respect for those doing the day-to-day work that keeps our union moving forward. He understands the importance of the individuals on the ground the ones who put in the hours, face the challenges, and rely on strong leadership to advocate for their best interests.
Jason leads with a balanced approach: he is both practical and thoughtful, firm when necessary, and always fair. He does not shy away from difficult conversations, but he handles them with professionalism and respect. That combination is rare, and it is exactly what is needed in a leadership role like Business Manager.
What stands out most about Jason is his consistency. Over more than a decade, he has remained dependable, solution-oriented, and committed to doing things the right way, not the easy way. He brings people together, builds trust, and creates an environment where others feel heard and supported.
I strongly believe that Jason Dempsey has the leadership, character, and dedication needed to serve the members of IBEW Local 640 effectively. He has my full support and endorsement for this position.
Respectfully,
Jacob Dries

I am happy to have the opportunity to stand by Jason after he stood by me and helped save my indentured status with the PEJATC.
After experiencing multiple issues with one of the contractors I was dispatched to, I found myself facing a difficult situation that eventually put my standing with the PEJATC at risk.
I reached out to Jason for guidance and to hopefully find a way to get the situation rectified. At no point in the process was there any confusion about what he could or couldn't do, or what the CBA did or didn't say. He held me accountable for my actions and the contractor accountable for theirs. After looking into the matter, he was able to present the Board with the facts of the situation, and I am now on schedule to receive my journeyman ticket this year.
I believe Jason will represent our hall to the best of his ability in whatever role he is in. Jason's actions have always displayed his number one concern, the Brotherhood. He is willing to put in the work. Whether it's sweating it out setting up for the events, showing up to have a drink and support the first Solidarity Nights, or taking a call from the members in the middle of a meal. And whether we agree on the topic at hand or how to approach something, I know that his decisions are based on what he thinks is best for the Union and the Brotherhood. And that is why I believe he will make a great Business Manager.
Thank you, Jason!
Respectfully,
James Moore

My name is Rodolfo (Rudy) Mariscal, and I retired from IBEW Local 640 in 2019. I am proud to offer my full endorsement of Jason Dempsey for Business Manager.
Jason became a steward in 2019 and quickly proved himself to be an effective leader and strong advocate for the membership. He later spearheaded the creation of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC) Local 640 Chapter in March of 2024. Under his leadership, the chapter received its charter in January of 2025, and he was elected President.
Jason currently serves as a Business Agent and holds multiple leadership roles within Local 640, including President of the Local. Throughout his time in these positions, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to serving the brothers and sisters of this union.
He is intelligent, hardworking, and driven. More importantly, he understands the needs of the membership today while keeping a clear vision for the future. Jason is committed to strengthening our Local, promoting growth, and ensuring that the next generation of brothers and sisters have every opportunity to succeed.
If you are looking for leadership that is focused on progress, unity, and the future of Local 640, I encourage you to support Jason Dempsey for Business Manager.
Sincerely yours,
Rodolfo (Rudy) Mariscal

If you want someone that will always have the membership's interest first, then I am suggesting that you should vote for Jason Dempsey as the next Business Manager.
When he was a steward, I witnessed how he would represent the members 100% when they filed complaints against the contractor's management. There were times when a complaint was not filed, and he still would meet with management to discuss and resolve the issues.
He was appointed as a Business Representative because of his ability to resolve several extreme contractual violations against some of our members.
Integrity, honesty, accountability, and someone that is willing to listen to the needs of the membership then look no further than Jason Dempsey as the next Business Manager of Local 640.
Respectfully,
Retiree Lionel Webb

To whom it may concern,
I, Jeff Scofield Jr., ticket #7915587, am writing this to provide my official endorsement for Brother Jason Dempsey of IBEW Local Union 640 for the Business Manager position. I can confidently attest to the skills and brotherhood that Jason has proven to me along the way.
Meeting Jason Dempsey nine years ago, I was a brand-new Journeyman Wireman, and I had a lot of questions. Jason, being an IBEW Steward at the time, not only answered my questions but pointed me in the right direction or made a phone call to get an answer for me.
As Jason became a Business Agent for our Local, he taught me a few lessons, and I became appointed as a steward myself. Like a true man of his word, he was always just a phone call away. No issue was too big or too small. I could always count on Jason’s opinion, guidance, or mitigation.
I believe Brother Jason Dempsey is an ideal candidate for this position and opportunity. Jason is a dedicated individual who cares not only about our community, but our families and brotherhood as well.
As not only our Business Agent, but also our President, Jason has made our events at the hall extremely impressive, allowing our Brothers, Sisters, and their families to get a feel for what it’s like to be part of Local Union 640. From our annual picnic and Christmas party to committee and community events, Jason has always shown dedication and leadership.
To add to Jason’s due diligence, he is heavily involved with our apprenticeship, as well as committees involving NECA and the PEJATC, our city leaders, and other evolving committees focused on strengthening our Brotherhood and Sisterhood and building the greatest workforce possible.
Thank you for your time and for considering my endorsement.
In Solidarity,
Jeff Scofield Jr.

I've known Jason for years and can honestly say he's a stand-up guy who always puts the members first. He would be a great Business Manager.
He's always available, nights and weekends, if you have questions or need advice or help on the job. He understands that this is a service position, not a position of power, and that's why I'm endorsing him.
I know he'll do great things for LU 640.
